Kick-off meetings

As the project was set to start in January 2020, kick-off meetings with the Consortium and the stakeholders were organized in order to raise awareness of the project and to engage relevant stakeholders, also beyond the steel industry.

Valdation workshops

Technology roadmapping & decarbonisation pathways

The workshop was organised by CEPS in collaboration with BFI on 23 March 2021 from 9:30 a.m. and 12 p.m.The workshop aimed to communicate the added value of the project to selected stakeholders, gathering feedback from them and ensuring the broadest possible dissemination of the project results. The results presented focused on three main areas:

• an analysis and summary of promising technology routes;
• a preliminary identification of financial and non-financial barriers; and
• the identification of possible pathways to decarbonise the EU steel industry in the mid- (2030) and long-term (2050).

Investment needs

The workshop was organised by CEPS in collaboration with CSM on 4 March 2021 from 2pm to 5pm. The workshop aimed to communicate the added value of the project to selected stakeholders, gathering feedback from them and ensuring the broadest possible dissemination of the project results. The results presented focused on two main areas:

• an analysis of the investment needs to decarbonise the steel industry by deploying the technologies identified in the technology roadmapping performed under Work Package 1;
  
• the identification of public and private funding opportunities available at EU and national level to support investment in low-carbon steelmaking.

Final conference

The GreenSteel final conference was held by CEPS online on 9 November & 10 November 2021.
